Keeping House: Marriage and moving in Athens, Ohio

21 Aug

Hello all!

As it’s been a hot minute since my last post, I thought I’d take tonight to update my loyal readers on what I have been up to since my move to Athens, Ohio.

Addam and I have moved into our own little home at 47 1/2 South May Avenue, and after a few weeks of lugging loads and unpacking boxes, it is finally starting to feel like home. We don’t have a lot of extra storage space, but we’ve made do with what we have, and it’s coming together quite nicely.

Making Moves: From Miami, FL to Athens, OH

22 Jul

As most everyone knows, Addam and I recently packed all of our belongings into heart-shaped boxes and made the move to Athens, Ohio, where we will both be attending Ohio University this fall. I’ll be working on my Ph.D. in journalism, and Addam will be earning a bachelor’s in music production.

While we will always miss Miami and all the beautiful memories it brought us, we are happily turning the page to the newest chapter in our lives. We are, once again, becoming novices in the search for self-improvement — chasing the horizon in the hopes that it will bring us to bigger and better things.

This post outlines our journey and introduces followers to the town that I now call home.

Champagne Showers: VIP at LMFAO in MIA

15 Jul

After Bonnaroo and about a week before Addam and I left Miami, we had VIP tickets for an LMFAO show at the American Airlines Arena — where the Heat had just won the NBA championship one day prior.

Far East Movement opened for Redfoo and SkyBlu, who threw an AMAZING party and definitely knew how to party rock. Since we were VIP, Addam and I were so close we could practically reach out and touch the uncle/nephew duo, and when they showered the crowd with champagne, we could taste the bubbles! We had an incredible time, so I wanted to share some of the photos we took throughout the night.

“Yo, I’m runnin’ through these ho’s like Drano; I got that devilish flow, rock ‘n’ roll, no halo. We party rock, yeah, that’s the crew that I’m reppin’; On the rise to the top, no lead in our zeppelin.” —  LMFAO, Party Rock Anthem, Sorry for Party Rocking (2011).

Blogaroo: The Roo Experience

14 Jul

I know we’re about a month out from Bonnaroo, but I’ve been so busy with all the transitions in my life that this is the first chance I’ve found to update everyone about the amazing time I had there.

I’ll get to all of my life changes in a later post, but this one is dedicated to Bonnaroo 2012 and the bands that made the journey from Miami, Florida to Manchester, Tennessee worth the 14-hour drive.

Happy Mothers Day!!

13 May

Happy Mothers Day to all the great moms out there, especially my own! Mom, I don’t know what I would have done without you. Thank you for all that you’ve done and for all that you continue to do.

“My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.” — Mark Twain, author (1835-1910).

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo in the MIA

7 May

Happy (belated) Cinco de Mayo, everyone! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday.

Each year Addam plans a big camping trip or cookout on Cinco de Mayo weekend, so it was no surprise that he requested to have the fifth off. He’d been pulling recipes and penning grocery lists for the last week, so I knew that this year’s cookout was going to be just as good as in years past.

Addam and I packed up the bikes and headed to the park at about 3 p.m., making a brief stop at Publix to pick up some last minute items that we’d need for the bar-b-que. Once we got to Morningside Park I realized that I forgot to grab some buns, so I ran back to the apartment while Addam set up our shade tent.
